Last week at Lola Loves

Sunday, 26 July 2015

Last week on Tuesday it was my final day of placement year! It has flown by, and these were the new styles that were going into Topshop towards the end of the week. With more sheer criss cross dresses and lace flares which the sample had been made the previous week and i had tried on in the studio,  they are a really nice fit and perfect for summer or a night out.
There is also a Suedette top that I worked on with Debbie on my last day by tracing and altering the pattern. It was ready to go in a few days later! Running up to my last week we were looking at ideas for AW which would be going in around August and looking at collections, colours and fabric samples to get an idea of what will be popular. So it'll be nice to see what goes in later in the year when I go back to Uni.
Can't believe that this year is all over!

What I've been up to!

okay so i have a bit of catching up to do with what ive been doing on placement! kinda cos i havent had a day off properly in like three weeks!
but at lily vintage we've been doing more reworked items, and its beed back on focus with silk shirts, not to mention i've still been making shawls, probably about 30 in the last three weeks! I dont think I want to look at wool blend fabric for a while after this winter! Although abakhan you have been handy for all the lovely fabrics we've been supplied with!
i also bought some pretty fabrics the other week with the hope of making something actually for myself!
So eventually i have, i made some time just to have a go at making something different that isnt made from wool! haha, so i had a go at making a velvet bralet! This is just a mock up its not fully finished, (still got pins in) so wouldn't be best to wear it right now! Hopefully i'll get a chance to finish it soo though!

Bit of making and starting a new placement...

Tuesday, 30 September 2014

Today I started my next placement, I was dead excited to start. This ones at a boutique in Chester called Lily Vintage.
Its got a really cool feel and set up, as its an old converted butchers.
Today i started with altering dresses to make them more appealing to the shoppers and also a trip to the fabric shop to get ideas of what fabric we want to use in making new things. Its dead exciting and another hands on placement which I'm really looking forward too. I'm the first intern they've had so its a chance to be really creative.
There is also a Puggle (mix of a pug and beagle) that runs round the office called Petal which makes me love it even more with how much i adore pugs of course!
The day before i did a bit of making... I finished my friends Co-ord that i made for her birthday prezzie and I'm really happy with the outcome and i hope she likes it!
I also did a mock up of a Winter shrug altered from an old wool blanket my Nan gave my mum, so think I'll be able to put it to more use like this!
